Man arrested after ‘eggs thrown at King and Queen Consort’ in York


Police arrested a man after he apparently threw eggs at the king and queen consort during a walk at York's Micklegate Bar.

The couple were visiting York Minster on Wednesday when the incident occurred. The eggs didn't hit Charles or Camilla.

The lone protester was seen shouting that Britain was "built on the blood of slavery" before about four police officers pushed him to the ground. Afterwards, the spectators exploded in a chorus of boos as they shouted "shamed" and "God save the king".
